Lazy Sunday & Shark Week

Today, with nothing to do in particular until 4 pm, I decided to clean house, flip on shark week, and browse through my fav blogs. I came upon a shark week inspired slideshow. I mean, I thought the chocolate muffin I bought for .99 cents was going to be the high light of my day...
click da pic.

....And since it's been too long since I've talked about anything *wedding* related, I have to divulge to my small number of readers about this new bridal designer I found, also via refinery29. Annie Jane (what a cool name?).

Yet something tells me, I'll still always want an Elie Saab dress...

Sorry about the uneventful blog... now time to hulu the bachelorette.

Bizarre hump day find

Scene: A quiet Wednesday morning, drinking green tea, and eating toast. Skipped the work out today. Checked e-mail. Realized I haven't visited nastygal.com in a while. Go to nastygal. Their opening picture on their website unveils the most bizarre shoes I have ever seen.

Behold: The black magic platform, at $118.

HOW BIZARRE????????? Reminds me of a song that goes a little something like "how bizarre, how bizzare." (90s rock anyone????)

I hope everyone has a good hump day!

Today's Get up: See you monday

A cowl neck shirt is a just a basic that every girl needs in her closet. I'm obsessed with this one I found in a boutique in Ruidoso. It's cropped in the back! The front neckline is really low cut, so it's fun to show off a cute bralette. Or you can utilize the hook and eyes to close the front (but where's the fun in that????)

I love wearing this bralette, by the brand See You Monday. I found this in a mall in Boston. Now that I look at it on the computer, it kind of reminds me of the curtains from The Sound Of Music and how she made clothes from them. Classic.

top/Fate
necklace, ring/House of Harlow
bralette/See You Monday
shorts/Forever21
turban/H&M

Check the turban. It's actually not even a turban, just something I kind of rigged up and bobby-pinned. But I'll save that for another blog...

It's hard to see in this picture, but I am donning floral denim. I actually love floral, but did I ever think I'd sport flowers on my jeans past the age of 5? No. Ahh, the power of trends. Here are some pictures to put you in the mood to buy floral denim STAT.

The flatform

Recently, my coworker and I were talking about the new type of heels that are coming out for the fall. It looks like a wedge..... only flat. As far as I'm concerned, Jeffrey Campbell invented this concept and other designers followed. My coworker calls it the "flatform."

And to be honest, I really didn't like it at first. I couldn't think of one outfit I could see myself wearing a "flatform" in. Is it dressy? Is it day time casual? Would I wear that to the bars? I couldn't think of any other place I'd wear it other than work (I work at a trendy boutique).

Then one day, a customer came into work and low and behold she was wearing beige flatforms with a T-strap. She worked it with light blue high waisted flowy shorts, and a white long sleeve top with full arms. Naturally, I immediately couldn't live without the shoes.

Now my broke ass is on the hunt for TDF (to die for) flatforms.

I found these lil babies on karmaloop.com. Keep your eyes out for this trend!!

Must read blog!

If you love reading fashion blogs as much as I do, you have to keep up with Solestruck blog, by Ty McBride. It's one of my favs, always discovering the coolest brands, and even gives out free shoes!!!

Fashion Goal

I've seen this trend going for a while, but haven't figured out how to pull it off yet. Socks and heels. dundundunnnnn.... Almost sounds like the feared "socks and adidas sandals" thing that I see thugs limping around wearing- but this is definitely not close to that at all.

Here are some inspiration pics for this trend...

I work in retail, and it is now my goal to pull off this look and wear it to work just one day this week. Will post this fashion success or failure soon....

Summer of Shoots

Every summer I do a really fun, sometimes crazy, photo shoot with my friends....thanks to Shannon Varis, redcouchphoto.com. It's always the high light of my summers. My friends and I all go to different colleges and some of us come home for summer, some don't, so it's always really special when we get together and do something fun like this. High school friends are the best! <3

Here are some pictures from the first photo shoot, summer 2oo9. We dressed crazzzyy and actually ended up going to a Carnival that was in town for the weekend. Tutu's, blazers, spandex, neon, the works.

Here are photos from the 2010 photo shoot. We were lucky enough to get 2 days worth of pics!

How cool are my friends? That lucky guy posing with us is Ryan. If you haven't heard about him, ya need ta. Catch his humor at his blog, north-view.blogspot.com.

For summer 2011, we wanted to have a really cool theme. We decided on doing a vintage bridal theme. It was good in theory, but we had no idea what we would wear. Google imaging inspirations could only get us so far. Luckily, on a quick trip to visit my boyfriend in the small town of Portales, I stepped into a consignment store 15 minutes before close, and as fate would have it, there was a bridal section. Beautiful, lacey, old, conservative, 50s inspired wedding gowns! It was perfect. I put 6 of those babies on hold, bada bing, bada boom, we wore them for the shoot. The pictures aren't done being edited yet, but I do have 1 shot I can give for a teaser! Ill post those as soon as they're done. I cant wait!

How awesome is Shannon's photography???? I love looking back on this picture because although we look so perfect, poised, and graceful, we were dying!!! It was over 90 degrees on a hot summer afternoon!!! Our make up was smudging, our dresses were choking us (women in the 50s were tiny!!....btchz) But I mean, we were having so much fun we didn't care. Honey badger don't care.

today's wedding dress

For those of you who don't know, I have a bit of a wedding obsession. I love looking through wedding photography, seeing the cakes, the color schemes, but most importantly, the dresses. I love, LOVE, bridal gowns. It just so happens I also love to sketch dresses for fun. So naturally I love sketching wedding dresses. This was the first one I did, the first original dress I wanted for my wedding. This was over a year ago, so it's of course changed 439 times since then.
