One day, baby, we'll be old.

I had fun playing around on Photoshop and Indesign making this graphic. These are lyrics from the song, "Reckoning Song (One Day)" by Asaf Avidan and the Mojos. These lyrics have been resonating with me lately. Don't they just make you want to LIVE LIFE and do things that make great stories later??? I want to order these words on a canvas and put it in my room. #DIYprojectsI'llNeverGetAroundToDoing

Listen to it.

This Week's you know what

I've been on this poster kick for about a month now..... on the prowl for a fierce Rolling Stones poster for my bathroom. It's not as easy as you think. I came across this sweet picture of Keith Richards and immediately mentally screamed, "THIS IS THE ONE" only to find out that it is literally $400. REALLY? Not happening. Not ha'ne'nen.

Then I found this reasonably priced band pic from Ebay. I like this one 'cause good ol' Mick is in there. Smack dab in the middle. I can't wait to order it and arrange it above the towel rack! It's the small things in life...

I'm partial to all things classic rock, ESPECIALLY THE STONES, mainly because I have hippie parents and grew up listening to the jams of the 60s and 70s. But it wasn't until I got the opportunity to see The Stones concert in El Paso, my sophomore year of high school that my love really solidified for them. Then I took a history of rock and roll class as a freshie in college and learned even more about the stones and all things blues/rock in general. most interesting blog post ever, i know.....

That one album

I feel like everybody has that one album in their life that they'll never forget or that just changed the way they listened to music.

Well this was that album for me.

Recently, a college friend was going through my iTunes library, and the first thing they said was, "ARE YOU EMO???" Haha. Pre-Lubbock, I was very into those alternative/acoustic/partially-emo bands like Blink182, Something Corporate, Copeland, Senses Fail, New Found Glory, Brand New, Mayday Parade, Postal Service, Say Anything, eeetttttcccc.... Post-Lubbock, my taste in music shifted into good ol' Country music. Eli Young Band, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, The Band Perry, Brantley Gilbert, AND OF COURSE JOSH ABBOTT. Where would we all be without Tech Grad Josh Abbott??? I, for one, do not know. Lubbock brainwashed my ass into liking cowboys and country music

(marry me, luke bryan)

Back to subject, when I was in my heyday in high school/middle school, it really was the cool thing to listen to those moody jams by our dearly beloved emo bands. and who doesn't want to be cool, right????!? , So when someone introduced me to "Cute without the E" by TBS circa 7th grade, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Then their new album "Where you want to be" came out, and this was before apple ruled my life, so I actually drove (well my dad drove me) to a local Hastings and physically bought the album.

I literally listened to it every single day, on my large ass silver & blue boombox. Before school, after school, I dedicated many hours stored away in my room dissecting the lyrics and soaking up the guitar riffs. #fellinlovewithmusic

I was even that girl that wrote my favorite lyrics down on school notes or random spirals. I've always been a doodler.

Even now, whenever that album comes on shuffle, it's like a surreal experience, and I'm immediately an 8th grader again. What I love about TBS is they can say the same meaningful lyric over 9872 times, and just literally SING THE HELL OUT OF IT with such raw emotion it kills me.

For example, "Head club":
Well it's getting colder and you're getting distant
and I just keep thinkin
that I never meant it to be like this(to be like this)
You know what comes next(so do I)
You’re begging for a way to gracefully bow out
and say goodnight

It's worse than you think
On your way home you should have known
you never listen to me
I’m only complaining to keep myself busy, sweetie
I’m only complaining to keep myself busy, sweetie

I can’t say I blame you
but I wish that I could
I’m sick of writing every song about you

Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
(I'm sick of writing every song about you)
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving
Don't call my name out your window, I'm leaving

This one is from the "Tell all your friends" album. That last line was one of my favorite things to doodle, as a little tot.

"Slowdance on the inside" was my favorite emo jam of all time. The music in it is incredible. And of course they always have great lyrics, that can do better than just rhyme "girl" with "world" every other verse. Really though, how many times have you heard the girl/world combo in a song????? drives me nuts.

This was one of my favorite part of the song:
This glass house is burning down (open all night, know it...)
You light the match, I'll stick around (open all night, know it...)
I'll give you everything you want (open all night, know it...)
And wish the worst of what I was (open all night, know it...)

And then their signature repeating lyric ender:
Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference

So call it what you will, I'm emo I guess. I just am so passionate about this album. It was the game changer for me in music. They've come out with some albums since then, but none of them has been as good as this one. I especially hated their album, "Louder Now" ugh.

Well feel free to leave me comments telling me what thaaaat album was for you.

Lately I've been..

Reading....

I can't lie it's been pretty slow so far.

This has SERIOUSLY been the most interesting cosmo I've read in a long time. Loved the Adele article. I love that she is even more non-celebrity-like than Kristen Stewart.

Listening to...

Wearing....

Pink lipstick. I was that girl at the UT/TECH game wearing all black, a pink scarf and matching pink lipstick. No one knew who I was rootin' for but it was obvious I was DoWn~2~P@rTy

Quoting...

Really, just anything Bridesmaids. I know this movie came out a long time ago, but my friends and cannot say enough Bridesmaids quotes...
*help me I'm poor*

Drinking...
Thank you Austin, TX for introducing me to this glorious mixed beverage.
It is now my favorite illegal activity.
Will be sure to request gallons of this concoction and Italian Moscato for Thanksgiving.

OCDing....
Call it OCD or whatever you want, but I have a newfound obsession for scrubbing my feet. Let's just say I have the smoothest phalanges in West Texas.

Eating...
Genuinely cannot get enough of these.
Just something we #admajors like to call Brand Loyal.

HAPPY PRE-HUMP DAY.

Get off of my cloud

When I was a sophomore in high school, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to see The Rolling Stones in concert with my dad. My mom was originally supposed to go, but couldn't make it. It was in El Paso, and my dad and I went with a few family friends (all my dad's age). They would tell me, "Is this music too old for you? You probably don't listen to The Stones."

I'm sorry, WHO DOESN'T LISTEN TO THE STONES???????

I reassured them I was MORE than happy to go. So whenever I find something Rolling Stones related, I am extremely partial.

Like this Chaser shirt from singer22.com.

In fact one of my favorite throw-on-and-go-anywhere tops is a Chaser Rolling Stones tee. I couldn't find it online, but I'll post it one of these days.

A young Mick Jagger and Keith Richards

Freshman year of high school, I took history of Rock & Roll. Totes on of my fav classes. I kept the textbook, duh. Fun fact about the stones, is that their band manager would lock Mick and Keith in a room together until they came out with the song. Also, the guitar riff for "I can't get no satisfaction" came to Keith in his sleep one night. Talent out the ass.

And here is a cool lil youtube vid with The Stones.
