Vintage Buyyyin'

I frolicked through Saver's today as opposed to working out after class. I never cease to amaze myself at how good I am at finding good crap through all of the crap crap. Seriously. Let's review the damage, shall we.

Mirror pics......... my apologies.
Can we just pause and reflect about that oversized bright pink sweater discovery? I literally gasped out loud. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you're shopping by yourself surrounded by others, it comes off as "is that girl okay? is she having a seizure?" type thing. And then there are always tons of Greeks there shopping for the next big date party. #thatawkwardmomentwhen you're shopping for every day clothes, not "80 aerobics" themed frat party clothes.

Breaking it down..

  • Brown loafers--finally! They had a surprisingly decent selection of shoes. The brown ones I picked out looked like they've never been worn. AND THEY ARE SO COMFY. Cushion galore.
  • White stripped silky top that is very reminiscent of the pajama trend making its way through the waters of fashion blogs.
  • Mint long sleeved neck tie top--2 dYe 4.
  • Silky camel-colored button up top with box pleat in the back. Classy.
  • Brown mid calf pencil skirt w/ slit in the back. Obsessed.
  • OVERSIZED PINK SWEATER-DUH.
  • Brown belt w/ gold lock buckle
  • Fur stole--not pictured. But still very atlantic-pacific.
  • Pastel glass earrings.
  • Silky shorts
  • Black Jeans that I cut and rolled into high waisted cut off shorts. ThRiFtY.
  • Leopard/zebra brown/black cardi. I love this mostly because it's brown and black.
Remember: when vintage shopping, one must always ask herself.... "Is this Atlantic-Pacific or Atlantic-Horrific?"

THE Atlantic-Pacific herself, Blaire Eadie. >>>click<<<

Study break: RUCHE

I fell upon one of my new favorite shopping websites on a 1 AM study break. Bloggers, I introduce to you, Ruche.
Here are some of my favorite pieces....
(click the pic)

The best part is all of it was so affordable! Ranging from about $18-50. And none of it looks cheap! Amazing. Obsessed. Lalalalalalalove. I'm hard to sell to when it comes to "vintage pieces" but I'm actually really digging this site. They also have a rad blog, and story about how the website started. Oh and did I mention they have sweet look books and desktop backgrounds??? Gotta <3 it.

The site also has some pretty fabulous purses and jewelry!

Well. back to studying...

Roadtrip: Las Cruces NM!

I know you're wondering, Why is there an exclamation point after 'NM' in the title? What's so great about Las Cruces?

Well, I mean nothing. There's nothing SUPERCALAFRAGILISTICEXPEALIDOCIOUS about Las Cruces. It is beautiful seeing all the mountains and turquoise-inspired painted buildings, but it's not like it's one of my favorite cities ever. Yet it's really not so much about what is in a city rather than who is in a city. A good portion of my high school friends went to NMSU and it was SO FUN getting to see and tailgate with all of them (they played UTEP, which is like their version of A&M)

But the main reason I went to Las Cruces was because my boyfriend had a rugby game there (yes my boyfriend is literally on a rugby team, yes rugby exists in other countries than Ireland).

Here is a picture (via crappy camera) story of my weekend...

Friday before we leave with our matching couple sunglasses

A cute lil corner in my friend, Jordie's, room

Me being easily fascinated by earth landforms (i live in lubbock)

Isn't he coot???

Rugby makes no sense. GO NOMADS!

Jordie has always had the gift of nail painting.

Props being on top of that leopard trend.

Rugby cleats. Yes, I took a picture of rugby cleats.

Jordie and I outside of The Shed.

My amazing "Breakfast Split"

Tailgating

GO CAVEMEN!!- I mean nmsu aggies.

Being easily fascinated again. This time by the colorful mall.

Jake and I after the game. He was so dead and tired. I stuck it out and wore my thigh-high dolce vita boots even though it was so hot. Also a top I got from a vintage store in boston.
Oh, and let us not forget the bite-sized GGL I take with me every where.

Summer of Shoots

Every summer I do a really fun, sometimes crazy, photo shoot with my friends....thanks to Shannon Varis, redcouchphoto.com. It's always the high light of my summers. My friends and I all go to different colleges and some of us come home for summer, some don't, so it's always really special when we get together and do something fun like this. High school friends are the best! <3

Here are some pictures from the first photo shoot, summer 2oo9. We dressed crazzzyy and actually ended up going to a Carnival that was in town for the weekend. Tutu's, blazers, spandex, neon, the works.

Here are photos from the 2010 photo shoot. We were lucky enough to get 2 days worth of pics!

How cool are my friends? That lucky guy posing with us is Ryan. If you haven't heard about him, ya need ta. Catch his humor at his blog, north-view.blogspot.com.

For summer 2011, we wanted to have a really cool theme. We decided on doing a vintage bridal theme. It was good in theory, but we had no idea what we would wear. Google imaging inspirations could only get us so far. Luckily, on a quick trip to visit my boyfriend in the small town of Portales, I stepped into a consignment store 15 minutes before close, and as fate would have it, there was a bridal section. Beautiful, lacey, old, conservative, 50s inspired wedding gowns! It was perfect. I put 6 of those babies on hold, bada bing, bada boom, we wore them for the shoot. The pictures aren't done being edited yet, but I do have 1 shot I can give for a teaser! Ill post those as soon as they're done. I cant wait!

How awesome is Shannon's photography???? I love looking back on this picture because although we look so perfect, poised, and graceful, we were dying!!! It was over 90 degrees on a hot summer afternoon!!! Our make up was smudging, our dresses were choking us (women in the 50s were tiny!!....btchz) But I mean, we were having so much fun we didn't care. Honey badger don't care.
