Giuliana is rad.

Is anyone else becoming more and more obsessed with G every week? I can't decide if this is subconscious sympathy for her double mastectomy or the fact that I always agree with her Fashion Police opinions. But either way I found myself following her on Twitter tonight, and oh I'm not done, then I actually tweeted her. I told her she looked fabulous on E! news tonight. I have no idea who I think I am.

G can pull off wearing a sparkly New Years Eve top on a Tuesday afternoon
G can pull off any hair part, boobs or not
G can wear Gumby colors and still look ~chic~
Only G can handle having snakes wrapped around her while not wearing pants and make it all look effortless

You go, G. I'll be Tweeting you again soon.

New Obsession: Rooney Mara

I was reading the new People magazine today, and stumbled upon a picture of Rooney Mara at the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo premiere.

Dress by Prabal Guring

I'm sorry, HOW INSANE IS THIS DRESS?!?!!?!?!?

I only mildly freaked out when I saw it. It is literally on par with Elie Saab dresses in my humble opinion. I am going to google the crap out of Prabal Guring after this post. Rooney Mara is just stunning in general, and this dress is ever bit as interesting as Lisabeth Salander. Speaking of ol' Lis, did any of you read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (or girl with the tramp stamp, as my friend says)???? The book was awesome. I mean, yes, the first 150 pages was rather akin to studying the attributes of metamorphic rocks in a size 10 font, but once you get through with that, the rest of the book is ridiculous. Let me put it this way: I stayed up until 4AM two nights in a row reading this book............... WITH 7:30AM FINALS. It is literally impossible to put down. Therefore, I highly recommend it.

And then there is the movie.

What a doozy. Did any of you see the movie??? I made two friends go with me and they wanted to kill me afterwards. As one friend put it, "I don't want ice cream anymore. I don't want to live anymore." lol. I don't blame them, it was a really hard movie to watch. Very disturbing. And I can't even imagine seeing the movie without first reading the book. That was the only reason I understood what was going on. While some parts were 10 times of disturbing and downright nightmare-inducing, it was overall an ingenious movie. The acting, production, music, appearances, everything was incredible. The movie didn't trim out anything important, and only a small part was changed from the book (with good reason, otherwise it probably would have been 9 hours long). Despite the uncomfortable scenes and the fact that Mara doesn't have eyebrows in the movie, I was most distraught thinking about how on earth she was able to pull off that swedish accent???? REALLY THOUGH???

All in all, I am glad I saw the movie. However, it's not something I'll go back to the theaters for repetitively like I would with Twilight or Harry Potter (yes I'm one of those people). I read the VOGUE issue with Rooney on it and actually learned a lot about the movie.

READ THIS ISSUE

  • If you didn't know already, Stieg Larsson, the man who wrote the trilogy, died after he wrote the 3rd book. Therefore, he has no idea how successful his books are, nor was he able to finish the series.
  • Larsson was inspired to write the book as a way to get his own sort of revenge: when he was younger, he witnessed a gang rape involving a girl named "Lisabeth," and always hated himself for not interfering. The book is definitely his fantasy revenge of how a girl gets revenge.
  • Mara and the director, David Finch, have an extremely high admiration and complex respect for each other. The article really stressed on that and even costars noted how it was super weird. Lol.
  • Mara and Finch claimed that "being super skinny wasn't an issue" for Mara, but in the lunch interview, it was noted that she ordered a salmon and "barely touched it." SOMETHING IS FISHY ABOUT THEIR STATEMENT METHINKS.
  • The Swedish movie version of Lisabeth has eyebrows and is actually kind of pretty. But in the American version, Lisabeth has no eyebrows and isn't really appealing at all. I personally like that better.
Well go read the book, it's great! I am going to start the next one as soon as I finish Pride & Prejudice. Which is taking me a while.

RZ Pre-fall '12.... I DIE

Um wow. Wow. This pre-fall collection is by far my favorite so far... Her signature tuxedo look was taken up a notch with, what I would call "blazer dresses," and bright flare legs. Super chic. Not the mention the flowy lovely dresses that are equally brill. I noticed that Rachel designed some long leather gloves, very akin to the DVF ones in her pre-fall collection which I previously blogged about... me thinks I need to get a jump start on the trends and buy them before their prices skyrocket. I think it also should be mentioned all the "nip action" that took runways and fall collections by storm. Designers are just really embracing womens' anatomy in the coming seasons I suppose? It'll be interesting to see how these "nip action" designs play out on the red carpet and department stores.

And don't forget to notice the shoes. I see slouchy booties and sleek ass strappy heels in my future.

To. Die. For.
Just breathtaking!!!!!
a
A little something I like to call the blazer dress
So sleek & chick
Altogether now.... I DIE.

Hair

Feel free to listen to Lady Gaga's, "Hair" whilst reading this.

Just kidding on that last picture. Kind of.
Anyways, If you don't already know, I used to have long hair.
Then one year ago, alone in my apartment, stressed from finals, I decided to cut myself.
Er, my hair rather.
I decided to cut my hair.
I took a sharp object to my hair and, just like the Parent Trap version of Lindsay Lohan would say, "I took a whack at it" or I gave a whack at giving myself an A-line cut.

LiLo in Parent Trap
A line cut.

So. That was that. I mean, that wasn't as bad as the next horrific hair cut I had, and if you haven't read that blog post then CLICK HERE BEFORE MOVING ANOTHER MUSCLE.

Many times since I cut my hair, I have regretted it. My mom has always ALWAYS told me to not cut my long hair. Why do we have to figure out our moms are always right the hard way????? Why. My short hair isn't all that bad, I felt sassy in it up until the "Eyebrow Drama" post. And it has in fact grown back out a little since then, and the sass is coming back.

I was day dreaming whilst taking notes for political science (yes, it's a freshman class, yes, i'm a junior, no, i don't want to talk about it) and naturally my thoughts drifted to my hair.

Every day I regret cutting it and I miss it.
And then I think about how some people can't grow hair, and how some people don't even have food, are starving and dying, and have much bigger problems than their hair.
And then I still regret cutting it and miss it.

Happy Finals.

Kourtney

I never cease to be amazed at what Kourtney Kardashian is wearing. Especially in all her reality TV drama, she is always dressed great. No matter what she is doing that day. She puts the cutest outfits together. Tonight she donned a simple plaid shirt, but with shoulder cut outs.

Shoulder cut outs + Skinnies + Flats + Lipstick
Then she randomly had on a bib necklace with a patterned shift dress. Does she have a stylist?!? Don't think so, but sure looks like it.

Kim, on the other hand, sported her hubby's panties. I just really don't know how I feel about that. "I couldn't find anything else to wear teee heee" . . . um, *cue vomit*. With that said, not that you care, I was proud of her for sticking it to Kris. I hope she finds love one day! *cue vomit again* I feel like this is turning into a perez hilton blog, as opposed to a fashion-of-sorts blog. whatever.

Although I'm a little confused by Kourtney's personal life decisions, I just admire her ability to pull off fashion risks, and things that normal civilians would look ridiculous in. Let us recap my favorite looks of hers.

Extreme cat eye
Bib + Round shades + puff sleeves
Gold button shoes + Ballerina bun
Asian collar mini dress
Polka dots + High waist shorts + statement choker
I need a pink silk top now?

VS recap

I don't know about y'all but I thoroughly enjoyed the fashion show, at least in those few minutes that I wasn't feeling depressed and suicidal. I especially liked the "spell on you" segment. But I thought it was interesting how they did an "aquatic angels" section. Reminded me of the Chanel S'12 runway. What is it with designers and water this season? I don't know, but I like it. How creative were those costumes??? My favorite was the one that had two spinning umbrellas attached. Where did they hide the batteries???? I don't want to know. So dumbfounded. I think it is safe to say that the day after the fashion show is "National Go On A Diet Day" for many of those who watched it. How about that 2.4 million dollar bra? Could you imagine wearing that many diamonds, pearls, and crystals on your mammaries?? I loved when Miranda walked the runway, then they would cut to Orlando just smiling like a school boy.  How about the fact that Adriana Lima has been doing this fashion show for OVER A DECADE. One of these years she is going to pull a Gisele and just be so over the whole VS thing.

My favorite part of the whole show has to be when they do background stories of the models' lives, and what the personality is of each model. I like how they said there was a "smart one" but never actually say what it is that makes her smart, they just show her wearing glasses. Which probably aren't even prescriptioned. Also gotta love the behind-the-scenes shots. 5 people trying to get a thigh high boot off of a 7ft tall woman.... classic.

Let's talk about Nikki Minaj. Her live performance was less than impressive. It was like half way lip-singing, half way performing. Then again I bet it is so hard to dance and rap fast, all while wearing disco ball shoulder pads... can't be easy. I just wish she would lose the hot mess outfit and rap with bipolar personalities like a normal person. I mean, at least when Lady Gaga dresses bizarrely, there is always an underlying meaning behind it all, and a disturbingly artful cohesion to the whole look... With Nikki Minaj, it just looks like a bad Halloween costume. Nothing makes sense about it. There is no underlying meaning other than "A blind 2nd grader is my stylist."  And how awkward was that small moment when Nikki grabbed a models hand??? How awkward is Nikki standing 3 heads shorter and 5 asses wider than the model???

I'm indifferent to Maroon 5, but I LOOOOOOOOOOVVVVED the Kanye/Jay-Z performance. Definitely danced in my seat like an idiot throughout their collaboration.
BALL SO HARD
