Giuliana is rad.

Is anyone else becoming more and more obsessed with G every week? I can't decide if this is subconscious sympathy for her double mastectomy or the fact that I always agree with her Fashion Police opinions. But either way I found myself following her on Twitter tonight, and oh I'm not done, then I actually tweeted her. I told her she looked fabulous on E! news tonight. I have no idea who I think I am.

G can pull off wearing a sparkly New Years Eve top on a Tuesday afternoon
G can pull off any hair part, boobs or not
G can wear Gumby colors and still look ~chic~
Only G can handle having snakes wrapped around her while not wearing pants and make it all look effortless

You go, G. I'll be Tweeting you again soon.

New Obsession: Rooney Mara

I was reading the new People magazine today, and stumbled upon a picture of Rooney Mara at the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo premiere.

Dress by Prabal Guring

I'm sorry, HOW INSANE IS THIS DRESS?!?!!?!?!?

I only mildly freaked out when I saw it. It is literally on par with Elie Saab dresses in my humble opinion. I am going to google the crap out of Prabal Guring after this post. Rooney Mara is just stunning in general, and this dress is ever bit as interesting as Lisabeth Salander. Speaking of ol' Lis, did any of you read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (or girl with the tramp stamp, as my friend says)???? The book was awesome. I mean, yes, the first 150 pages was rather akin to studying the attributes of metamorphic rocks in a size 10 font, but once you get through with that, the rest of the book is ridiculous. Let me put it this way: I stayed up until 4AM two nights in a row reading this book............... WITH 7:30AM FINALS. It is literally impossible to put down. Therefore, I highly recommend it.

And then there is the movie.

What a doozy. Did any of you see the movie??? I made two friends go with me and they wanted to kill me afterwards. As one friend put it, "I don't want ice cream anymore. I don't want to live anymore." lol. I don't blame them, it was a really hard movie to watch. Very disturbing. And I can't even imagine seeing the movie without first reading the book. That was the only reason I understood what was going on. While some parts were 10 times of disturbing and downright nightmare-inducing, it was overall an ingenious movie. The acting, production, music, appearances, everything was incredible. The movie didn't trim out anything important, and only a small part was changed from the book (with good reason, otherwise it probably would have been 9 hours long). Despite the uncomfortable scenes and the fact that Mara doesn't have eyebrows in the movie, I was most distraught thinking about how on earth she was able to pull off that swedish accent???? REALLY THOUGH???

All in all, I am glad I saw the movie. However, it's not something I'll go back to the theaters for repetitively like I would with Twilight or Harry Potter (yes I'm one of those people). I read the VOGUE issue with Rooney on it and actually learned a lot about the movie.

READ THIS ISSUE

  • If you didn't know already, Stieg Larsson, the man who wrote the trilogy, died after he wrote the 3rd book. Therefore, he has no idea how successful his books are, nor was he able to finish the series.
  • Larsson was inspired to write the book as a way to get his own sort of revenge: when he was younger, he witnessed a gang rape involving a girl named "Lisabeth," and always hated himself for not interfering. The book is definitely his fantasy revenge of how a girl gets revenge.
  • Mara and the director, David Finch, have an extremely high admiration and complex respect for each other. The article really stressed on that and even costars noted how it was super weird. Lol.
  • Mara and Finch claimed that "being super skinny wasn't an issue" for Mara, but in the lunch interview, it was noted that she ordered a salmon and "barely touched it." SOMETHING IS FISHY ABOUT THEIR STATEMENT METHINKS.
  • The Swedish movie version of Lisabeth has eyebrows and is actually kind of pretty. But in the American version, Lisabeth has no eyebrows and isn't really appealing at all. I personally like that better.
Well go read the book, it's great! I am going to start the next one as soon as I finish Pride & Prejudice. Which is taking me a while.

I feel like everyone is scared of sequin shorts. I can maybe count on one hand how many people I know who own them. Sequins are always a holiday staple, but people get stuck only wearing sequin dresses and tops. Well people, it's time to expand your sequin horizons. I see these in every boutique and online store I visit, yet seldom see them on actual people.

So repeat after me: I can pull off sequin shorts. I can pull off sequin shorts.
Now click your heels 3 times with your eyes closed.
POOF.

Now there are a few ways you can wear this depending on your body and style. The Jane Fonda's and Kate Moss's of this world can sport the "leotard" shorts on the very right. Very akin to the leotard trend that took the runways by storm for the spring '12 collections. I like to think it should be paired with tights and low heels or flats, just so people don't think you're a prostitute. Also a basic tee, blazer, and sassy necklace.

You could also dress them down by pairing them with a chunky sweater. The outfit in the middle is probably what I would be most likely to wear. Paired with those DV Jemmas, you really can't go wrong.

A sassy diva would sport the outfit with the bright pink top and leopard clutch, which would also look superb with the Jemmas.

My favorite outfit is on the very left. I love monotone/neutral/nude outfits, and I die for those Steve Madden heels.

So please, FEAR NOT THE SEQUIN SHORTS. And to end this post, I'll leave you with some inspiration pics...

Well happy holidays sequin shorts shopping!!!

K-Mid does it again

I just love Kate Middleton. In her latest appearance at the "Night of Heroes" military awards event at London's Imperial War Museum, she sported one of my favorite looks by her. A strapless black velvet number by Alexander McQueen, the same label as her wedding dress.

STUNNING.
I suddenly feel like I need to purchase something black and velvet on the immediate. And I knew she wasn't pregnant!!!!!

Hair

Feel free to listen to Lady Gaga's, "Hair" whilst reading this.

Just kidding on that last picture. Kind of.
Anyways, If you don't already know, I used to have long hair.
Then one year ago, alone in my apartment, stressed from finals, I decided to cut myself.
Er, my hair rather.
I decided to cut my hair.
I took a sharp object to my hair and, just like the Parent Trap version of Lindsay Lohan would say, "I took a whack at it" or I gave a whack at giving myself an A-line cut.

LiLo in Parent Trap
A line cut.

So. That was that. I mean, that wasn't as bad as the next horrific hair cut I had, and if you haven't read that blog post then CLICK HERE BEFORE MOVING ANOTHER MUSCLE.

Many times since I cut my hair, I have regretted it. My mom has always ALWAYS told me to not cut my long hair. Why do we have to figure out our moms are always right the hard way????? Why. My short hair isn't all that bad, I felt sassy in it up until the "Eyebrow Drama" post. And it has in fact grown back out a little since then, and the sass is coming back.

I was day dreaming whilst taking notes for political science (yes, it's a freshman class, yes, i'm a junior, no, i don't want to talk about it) and naturally my thoughts drifted to my hair.

Every day I regret cutting it and I miss it.
And then I think about how some people can't grow hair, and how some people don't even have food, are starving and dying, and have much bigger problems than their hair.
And then I still regret cutting it and miss it.

Happy Finals.

The New Pants

The crazy pants. I did a little digging into this trend, and some are calling it the "Palazzo Pants"
I'm not one to draw anymore attention to these American thighs, but my coworkers have been sporting this, and needless to say: Rocking It. So, naturally, it inspired a blog post.

In fact, Chrome just got A TON in for our fall shipments. They are all soooooo cute, and made with really good fabric. Me touch. Soft. Me like.

The first dilemma that comes to mind when considering Palazzo pants is probably, "What the ef do I wear with those???" Well it's called google images, and a lot of inspiration can come from there if only you type it in. That's an easy way at least, if you're into watching runway shows, or browsing look books, then inspiration shalln't be a problem.

I think my favorite looks are tucking a slim-fitting shirt into the pants and adding a statement neckless. Or if the pants are high enough, you could wear a boxy, off-the-shoulder, crop top, like the girls on the left and middle.

I particularly like that red pair in the middle. Very Rachel Zoe.

I love this picture I came across because it gives a "Palazzo Pants For Dummies" kind of thing explaining what to accessorize it with. Also explicitly obsessed with the pleated top by Topshop.

In Other News
  • Our good friend Lizzie McGuire is now pregnant. As if the world needed another season of Teen Mom.
  • For all of you sorority sisters out there, work week has started, and I feel your pain. I have blue magic marker all over me, very akin to a five year old.
  • I only spent $7 at Josies last night

Happy Sunday, bloggers! I hope everyone gets a good start to their week!

Blake The Great

“People ask me why I don’t tweet. Honestly, I’m so sick of myself.”
-Blake Lively

Dress like the bachelorette

Our good friend Ashley, Bachelorette of season 7, had some trial and error when it came to judging one's character (hello bentley) but she did impress me with her choice of clothes from week to week. I wanted to recap my favs of her outfits and where us civilians/non-reality-tv-stars can buy them.

Let's talk about this little number she wore debuting her new public relationship on Jimmy Kimmel. This is a "Priscilla" open back lace Bodycon dress. Is it just me or is Ash OBSESSED with open back things?? So if you are as fond of your back as Ashely is, you can get this on freepeople.com for $268.

Here's lil Ash on the "Men Tell All" episode.

She loves her cut outs. What is her work out??!?!? I admire her ability to dress scandy but still come off as sweet and innocent as a 2nd grader. How do we feel about her darker hair???

And here we have the model version. You can get this dress, the "Cut out Scuba Dress" on Planetblue.

How cute was this ruffled off-the-shoulder get up, she wore while Ryan (or was it the West Texas cowboy?) awkwardly taught her how to golf.

You can find this Foley+Corinna romper on Planetblue, also.

My personal favorite hometown date outfit was JP's. It is the iconic perfect date outfit! Tight sexy jeans, cute-but conservative- top, and roller skates. Or heels. Whatever you're into.

This top is a "Studio Poplin Top" by Zara, just $39.99. Ash made a good decision by belting it..
And what about those jeans? Do you have to be bow-legged to look THAT cute roller skating in denim????

These are Rock & Republic "Kassaundra White R Detail" jeans.

Here is the dress she wore when she told the boys who hadn't left her yet, that they were going to Fiji.

I adore sequins, and I think she looks shiny and cute.

If you want to be shiny and cute like your favorite bachelorette, you can find this dress, an Alice + Olivia sequin "Kendra" dress, from one of my favorite websites, singer22.com. Well, it's sold out. Never mind. Evidently this was one of America's fav Ashley looks.

Moving on- Let's get serious. Ashley gets serious as she lets poor vulnerable Ben F. actually get down on one knee and say the unthinkable. Then that awkward moment when she doesn't say yes happens and he has to get up, and the rest of America is cringing, but still admiring her wedding dress. Or engagement dress? She chose a design by Randi Rham, weighing in at $17,000. She found it appropriate to go frolic around in the ocean wearing this dress, thus tarnishing it. Oh well. That is JP's problem now.

She did look great though! I'm not a big fan of spaghetti V-neck straps but.... whatever. It was only $17,000.

Okay bloggers, that's all I have for now!

PS-
BEN F FOR NEXT BACHELOR!!!!

Pleasure Doing Business

Oh, PDB. If you haven't heard of this brand, or tried on one of its garments, it's time, honey. It is known as the "bandage" brand. It specializes in bandage skirts, tops, dresses, and sucks you in so much, it puts spanx to shame. I just came across this bandage dress from Urban outfitters.

Most of their garments retail at $110-$187 (Although the dresses can range up into the $300s), but I actually found the exact replica of this skirt from Victoria's Secret--their PINK line nonetheless!!! For only about 50 bones. Plus, you can almost always find these skirts on sale via Urban Outfitters.

This is their latest version of the bandage skirt. I think they are cutting us curvier girls some slack with this design...
And don't worry, the celebrities have hit this brand hard. It's been sported by the Olsens, Vanessa Hudgens, Rihanna, Nicole Ritchie, and of course what is a trend without...

The Kardashians!!!!

I personally love the idea of a slim fitting skirt paired with a full-sleeved peasant top. You go
K-Dash Klan!
